Bill and Gene Linhart knew little about the nursery business back in 1959 when they left farming to purchase seven and a half acres in the quaint village of New Springfield, Ohio.

What this young couple lacked in knowledge, they made up for in hard work and a commitment to treat the customer as they would like to be treated.

Their first building was a little wooden structure about the size of a one car garage. Since then, this building has been the base for additions, teardowns, and more additions until it grew to the 20,000 square foot facility it is today.

In 1969 with the business growing and a need to expand, the adjacent Elser farm was purchased, giving TOWN ‘N COUNTRY a total of 40 acres.

The business today hosts a large garden center, antique museum, and a complete display area of landscape design and build showroom.

Throughout the years, the Linharts have dismantled and moved historic structures to their nursery. TOWN ‘N COUNTRY’S beautiful setting, garden center, historic structures, and friendliness has made it a favorite stop for shoppers from across Ohio and Pennsylvania.
